Well it didn’t take long for Adam "Pacman" Jones to start running off at the mouth during the Dallas-Denver combined training camp. Jones had to go out of his way to slap Brandon Marshall around a bit with some ridiculously stupid comments. Jones made it be known that he thinks Marshall is "nowhere" near as talented as the Cowboys Terrell Owens and that Owens is "10 times faster and 10 times stronger than Marshall." Little Pacman has a right to say what he wants but he should at least keep things in perspective…and he should probably figure out a way to stop Marshall before he runs off at the mouth. Marshall apparently went head to head with Jones six times and beat him five times…Pacman, just play football. While Terrrell Owens is a dominating figure at WR, and one of the best in the league, he is not head and shoulders better than Brandon Marshall at this point. Only three receivers in NFL history have caught over 100 passes in one of their first two seasons…and Marshall is one of them. If Marshall stays healthy this year he will most likely go to the Pro Bowl. And one more thing Pacman….Brandon Marshall has "10 times better hands" than Terrell Owens. By all accounts the Broncos faired well in their first day of training camp practices with the Dallas Cowboys, except for two areas. Unfortunately these two areas were the two biggest problems with the football team last year. The Broncos got pushed around big time on the offensive and defensive lines. Most of the pushing around came in one on one drills and things could be different when the units are playing together, but this is not something you want to see. If Denver is to make a playoff push the two biggest factors will be the guys up front on both sides. Eddie Royal sure looks like he has a decent shot to be the second WR on this team…down the road. He has been impressive as a WR prospect and of course they plan to use him on returns. This is a guy that needs to be on the field as much as possible. The Broncos do not use four WR sets often but it is something you might see more often this year…you MUST get your best players on the field. Denver had a problem last year with big plays, the lack of big plays. Royal can only help in this area. Most pre-season games don’t mean much but this pre-season game against the Cowboys on Saturday does mean a little more than usual. Why? Because it was in Dallas last pre-season that it became apparent the Broncos could not stop their grandma’s from rushing the football. Dallas pushed them all over the place. It will be interesting to see what happens this weekend. And since Little Adam started running off at the mouth it will be fun to see if Cutler and Marshall take their shots at him…lol, you just know they will. Do you want to see the Cowboys and Broncos in action this Saturday? Go here. Mail this post |

Reports now say that Denver Bronco’s WR Brandon Marshall will be suspended for three games, with the possibility of the suspension being reduced to two games if he receives counseling. While there is no doubt that the league had to take a look at this, I find it amazing they would suspend this guy for two or even three games when this is the FIRST time he has even been called before the commissioner. A strong warning and probation probably would have been enough to take care of this problem. Most of Marshall’s problems have come from a bad relationship with an ex-girlfriend that at times got out of hand. He has not been a problem on the field or with the Denver Broncos. He has not been busted for drugs or things like that. His biggest issue is a pending DUI…but that has not been resolved yet. Where is due process in the NFL? Apparently there is none. By all accounts he is a good guy that has let his relationship with his ex-girlfriend lead him into some minor trouble. It is unfortunate that right now the NFL has a commissioner that is consumed with power and thinks he needs to meddle in the personal lives of every NFL player. The situation with Brandon Marshall is not even close to the situation with Adam "Pacman" Jones. It is so far away from that type of behavior that a suspension is not warranted. The situation is not even close to that of Chris Henry or other players that have gotten into trouble. What does this mean for the Denver Broncos? Well, if he is suspended it is a big loss. There is no getting around the fact that Marshall is a supreme talent that has a chance to be one of the best WR’s in football and maybe even the best. What he did for Denver last year was AMAZING. Marshall is big, fast, has great hands, and is simply the BEST WR after the catch in the NFL. He is better after the catch than Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers and Terrel Owens of the Cowboys. If Marshall stays healthy he has a good chance to be a regular in the Pro Bowl year after year. Without Marshall Denver loses a big offensive weapon that is nearly impossible to replace. Darrell Jackson is already the number two receiver, he would move to number one. Who goes to number two is the question. Would it be Brandon Stokely? Probably not, Stokely is a great slot receiver. Kerry Colbert? Maybe. Would it be the rookie Eddie Royal? Might be. He has been impressive in training camp so far. If reports are true then obviously Marshall needs to get to some counseling so he can get back on the field for game three. The Broncos have a chance to be a playoff team but there is not much margin for error. Losing a guy that can turn ANY passing play into a big play is not something that leads to wins. Finally, I think the owners need to try to reign in The Dictator, aka Roger Goodell, a little bit. Trying to solve and get rid of a lot of the bad off the field behavior is understandable. But in Marshall’s case a two or three game suspension is just not warranted. Mail this post |

The Denver Broncos and Brandon Marshall got the news they were hoping for today….Marshall win only be suspended for one game, not three. Earlier this week Marshall and his agent flew to New York to make their case that the suspension should be reduced and they got what they wanted.
